Cell phone company A charges a pme time activation fee of $23.75 + an Aditional minthly fee of $24.25 + 00.5 per minute per calls. Cell phone company B charges a monthly of $29.00 plus 0.10 per minute per calls. After how many minutes of calls will each company be the same for the first month?

Answer: 380 minutes     Company A = $23.75+24.25 = $48 +.05x (x = number of minutes)  Company B = $29 + .10x (x = number of minutes)   Now set the two equations equal to each other ($48 + .05x = $29 + .10x) and solve for x.  Begin by subtracting -$29 - .05x from both sides.  This gives you 19 = .05x.  Now multiply both sides by twenty to get one x.  You get x = 380.  To check your work you can replace x with 380 in the two original equations ($48 + .05x and $29 + .10x) and you will get $67 for both Company A and Company B for the first month.
