Max and Millie Dice Game

Max and Millie have invented a dice game. They roll two four-sided dice and look at the difference between the two numbers that come up. Max scores a point if the difference is 1 or 2. Millie scores a point if the difference is 0 or 3

(a) is the game fair? give calculations and reasons to support your answers

(b) how could you change the game to make it more fair?

This certainly is creative!  With 4-sided dice (equilateral pyramid), I wouldn't know how to tell which of the 4 possible numbers "came up" (although I could tell which 'came down').

4-sided dice actually have a way to solve the problem of having no side "facing up." They essentially label each point of the die instead of each side, so whichever point faces upwards gives you the roll's outcome.
