If you factored a quadratic set equal to zero,   (x-a)(x-b)=0 then x-a=0 or x-b=0 so x=a or x=b.  If you have solutions x=-9 and x=-3 that implies a=-9  b=-3.  Therfore (x+9)(x+3)=0
