Well, first, what is slope intercept form? Slope intercept-form is given by
y = mx + b
where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept. However, we do not know the slope intercept, but we do have a point and the slope - so we should use the point-slope form and then manipulate it to get slope-intercept form. Point-slope form is given by:
y - y1 = m(x-x1)
where (x1,y1) is our given point, which is (3,4). So, plug everything in we got:
y - 4 = 2(x-3)
Expand 2(x-3) by multiplying the 2 through the parenthesis:
y-4 = 2x - 6
add 4 to both sides:
y-4 + 4 = 2x - 6 + 4
y = 2x - 2
Now this is in slope-intercept form, so the answer is:
y = 2x - 2
