Need an answer asap please!

Question

the question is 

 √x+3 = √2x+8

 

I squared both ends to get

 

x+3= 2x+8

 

I moved the variables to one side and the numbers to the other to get

 

3x=5

 

my answer was  x= 5 over 3

 

This correct? if not where did i go wrong? thanks

If √(x + 3) = √(2x + 8), then squaring both sides gives

x + 3 = 2x + 8, so x = -5.

 

But, substituting -5 into the original equation yields √(-2) = √(-2).

 

Thus, there are no real solutions.

the question is  √x+3 = √2x+8

 

This equation cannot be solved because it is FALSE.

 

Let x = 1, then √1 + 3 = √2 + 8

 

As you can see, it does not compute.
