1.  At the first 9 venues of a tour the average ticket price is $45, and at the other 3 venues on the same tour the average ticket price is $60. Assuming a band plays one show at each venue, what is the average ticket price for the entire tour?

 

 

 

 

2.  A band plays 8 gigs during the first part of a month, with an average audience size of 90 people. At the end of the month the band plays two additional gigs, which have 107 and 123 people in the audience respectively. Calculate the average attendance per gig over the course of the entire month.

1. [number of venues at $45 per ticket + number of venues at $60 per ticket] divided by the total number of venues

 

[(9 x $45) + (3 x $60)] ÷ 12 = $48.75 per ticket

 

2. [(8 gigs x 90 people/gig) + 107 people + 123 people] divided by total number of gigs

 

(8 x 90) + 107 + 123 = 950 ÷ 11 = 86 people per gig
