4y2 + 4y - 120
The factor that each term in the polynomial have in common is 4. We can take this out as the GCF.
4(y2 + y - 30)
Next, we can factor out the term in parenthesis using FOIL.
4(y + 6)(y - 5)
Second Polynomial
5r2 + 39 - 8
We factor using FOIL. The first terms of each binomial when multiplied must give the product of 5r2. The last terms when multiply together must give the product of -8, but the sum of the products of the outer and inner terms must be 39.
(5r - 1)(r + 8)
