The slope between two points is pretty simple if you just remember the rule: It's the change in y divided by the change in x.
In this case y goes from 5 to -4. That's a change of -9. You find that by subtracting 5 from -4. -4 - 5 = -9. Or you can just see in your head that to go from 5 to -4, y has to decrease by 9, which is the same as saying that it changes by -9.
x goes from 2 to 0. That's a decrease of 2, or a change of -2.
So the slope of the line is -9 / -2 = 9/2 = 4.5.
