first, look at the general formula for a circle with the center at 0,0:
x^2 + y^2 = r^2
Now, if you have something like (x - h)^2, it means the y-axis of the circle is now at x = h. Draw circles on graph paper to make this clear.
What have you been asked to do? If the assignment is to get the equation of the circle, I think you would need to know at least 2 points

Where is the center of the circle on the grid?
I think it works like this: If we know any two points, we can find the equation...I think.
Using the general formula, put some of your own circles on the graph paper, so you'll get comfortable with the procedure.
