x-y = -6............eqn 1

5x+3y = -54..............eqn 2

 

Multiply eqn 1 by 3 & add eqn 2,

 

3x -3y =-18

5x+3y =-54

 

8x = -72

x=-72/8 = -9

substitute x=-9 in eqn 1, -9 -y = -6

                                        -y = -6+9

                                        -y = 3

                                         y=-3
