It's often useful to convert simple decimals to fractions.
Multiply the second equation by -5 to produce
5x - 7.5y = -25 then add to the first equation
-4.5x + 7.5y = 9
-------------------------
0.5x = -16
x =-16/0.5 or x = -16/(1/2) = -32
32+1.5y=5 or (3/2)y = 5-32 y=2*(-27/3) = -18
the solution is (-32,-18)
check -x+(3/2)y=5 32+(3)(-18/2) = 32-27 does = 5
