I think your problem says that a hypothetical worker gets paid 1.5 times her normal rate past 40 hours, and that after 51 hours she made $378.55
Let's say that her normal hourly rate is x. That means that in the first 40 hours, she make 40x dollars. Since she actually worked 51 hours, she earned time and a half on the last 11 hours. In all, she earned:
40x+11(1.5x)
40x+16.5x
56.5x=378.55
x=6.7
She must make $6.70/hr
