I would be happy to help you with sight reading! As another teacher mentioned, you must be confident reading music before learning to sight read. I use the following method:
Step 1: Look at the key signature. If you are a beginner, scan through the piece and point to every note that is sharp (#) or flat (b).
Step 2: Look at the time signature. Scan the piece for challenging rhythms and tap them quietly on your lap.
Step 3: Scan the piece for technically challenging passages.
Step 4: Check the tempo. If a fast tempo is specified, such as allegro or presto, play on the slower side of that tempo range to increase your accuracy.
Step 5: Take a deep breath and begin playing.
I would recommend starting with a piece that is several levels below your current playing level. For example, if you are playing Fur Elise, you might sight read Bach Minuet in G.
