I would recommend focusing more on being able to assist students in understanding Math topics and areas they are or will be going over in class. Addressing standards could be helpful, but a tutor's main focus, in my opinion, is ensuring a student understands the information being taught. Teachers are the ones responsible for focusing on standards and gauging student progression in meeting those benchmarks.

Both teachers and tutors play a vital role in supporting a student's learning, but each has their own responsibilities.
