Overall Logic of Chinese Character Learning Method: Whenever you learn a single-component character, you can learn 1-2 radicals, 10-20 multiple-component characters, and 20-40 words! Do you know only 100 single-character words are most commonly used? (Referenced from Hacking Chinese's compilation)
This means that by learning these independent characters, you can master
100-200 radicals, 1000-2000 multiple-component characters, and 2000-4000 words!
Of course, this doesn't mean that one independent character only has 10-20 multiple-component characters; they have more, possibly even hundreds.
Learning the 10 most common multiple-component characters is enough. Similarly, a Chinese character can form more than 2 words, and if you're interested, you can learn more.
In short, this logic will make your approach to learning Chinese characters very clear and greatly improve efficiency.
Moreover, due to the ideographic nature of Chinese characters, most multiple-component characters under the same radical share similar meanings.
For instance, in the past 5 days, you spent 1 hour each day and then you would successfully learn 5 single-component characters, 6 radicals, 50 multiple-component characters, and 100 words!
If you're interested in learning Chinese, I highly recommend trying this approach!
e.g., Single-component character: 山(shān, mountain) → Radicals: 山字头(mountain radical top) and 山字旁(mountain radical side)→ multiple-component characters:崖、岩、崇、巅、 岭、峰、峭、峻、峨、崛;→ words: 悬崖、崖壁,岩石、攀岩,崇山、崇高,山巅、巅峰,山岭、岭南,高峰、山峰,陡峭、峭壁,险峻、峻岭,巍峨、峨眉,崛起、奇崛。
