Best guitar hand position

Question

What’s the best hand position for the guitar? Should I be placing my hand in a specific spot, or in a specific way?

I think you use what ya got. I was 8 when I started playing I couldn't play normal chords in the way I can as an adult. If you can play the song in one way in a day or two you will play it better.. speaking from personal experience. If you have small hands, and are a kid, learn from now, but in the future find other ways.

There are ideal hand positions- but all are variable. The main idea is to get the thumb on the backside of the guitar neck, and then make a little C with your hand, so that your fingers press almost straight down into your thumb. This can change a little bit though- depending on style (so blues players fret some of their chords with their thumb on the E string) and depending on the situation- for instance a 5 fret stretch or further really needs the thumb and elbow to come to the bottom end of the guitar- so your fingers can stretch out further.
