Macrodynamics are the dynamics in the smaller scale of the music. They are usually not specified on the score, but they are very important to the artistry of music. Microdynamics are used between one note to the next note within a phrase. When you hear a musical phrase is evenly getting louder or softer, or a group of notes are sounded equally played, microdynamics are being used. Otherwise, you will hear it as some notes suddenly louder than the others accidentally, or the overall sound is just not pleasant. In general, it requires good techniques and good ears to execute the microdynamics. Of course, listening to a lot of good music/performance will help to train our ears to become keen to the change of sound.
