This means: Keep the first fraction, change the division sign to multiplication, and flip the second fraction.

So, the new equation would be:

8/7 x 5/8

As others have answered, it would be a/b × d/c

But why?

One way to arrive at the solution is as follows.

We don't like fractions in the denominator so what can we do to make it go away? Multiply by its reciprocal, d/c. In other words, c/d × d/c gives us plain old 1.

But to keep the value of the original fraction the same, we also have to multiply the numerator by what we multiplied the denominator by, that is d/c. (see note at end)

So the numerator becomes a/b × d/c. The denominator is 1 as explained above, so the answer is a/b × d/c.
