What kind of picking do metal and shred guitarists like Joe Satriani and neo-classical guitarists like Yngwie use?

Many neo-classical and shred guitarists use alternate picking, but also can change their picking to economy picking and sweep picking especially when playing fast arpeggios. Hybrid picking can also be used.
