Let

x=amount of 12 inch wide paper

y=amount of 15 inch wide paper

 

we know that 

 

12x + 15y =180

 

and

 

x + y = 14

 

you can use substitution by making y=14-x

or

you can use elimination by multiplying x + y = 14 by 12
