Think of percent as “parts per hundred”. Thirty percent is thirty parts per hundred, or 30/100. Dividing both the numerator and the denominator by 10, we can simplify the fraction to 3/10.
Now we want to multiply 3/10 by 20.
(3/10)*20 = 60/10 = 6.
So 30% of 20 is 6.
