You might want to check your post for accuracy since you mention reading “the book” did you mean that you read 1/8 of a book this would imply that you completed more than one book within 16 days. Also I noticed it says Fractions to decimal in your heading do you want an answer expressed as a decimal or a fraction?

If you read 1/8 of a book each day for 16 days and the word “of” is associated with multiplication so you read

(1/8)*16
