Hey Weetundra!
To determine how many more 1/2 cup containers are in 1 and 3/4 cups of water, first we need to convert the mixed number to an improper fraction.
1 and 3/4 cups = (4 * 1 + 3) / 4 = 7/4 cups
Now, we will convert 1/2 cup to an equivalent fraction with the same denominator (4):
1/2 cup = 2/4 cup
Now we can divide 7/4 by 2/4 to find out how many 1/2 cup (2/4 cup) containers are in 1 and 3/4 cups:
(7/4) / (2/4) = (7/4) * (4/2) = 7/2
So, there are 3.5 half-cup containers in 1 and 3/4 cups of water. This means that there are 2.5 more half-cup containers than 1 and 3/4 cup containers, since one 1 and 3/4 cup container is equal to 3.5 half-cup containers.
I hope this was helpful!

First, let's convert the fractions to equivalent fractions.
1 and 3/4 will convert to 7/4
1/2 will convert to 2/4.
You take the different of 7/4 from 2/4 and you'll find that the cup has 5/4 more. Hope this helps!
1 and 3/4 = 7/4
1/2 cup more than that is 7/4 + 1/2 = 7/4 + 2/4 = 9/4 = 2 and 1/4 cup.
