First you see if you can factor by saying the factors of 5 whose sum is 10 are...and indeed there are no such factors. Then, you realize that you have to resort to the quadratic equation which is -b +/- sqrt (b2-4ac)/2a.
Plugging in you get -10 +/- sqrt (100-20)/2. Solving this leads to one solution of -.53 and the other of -9.47.
