A great Statistician and a researcher
First the farmer sells 9.3 kg of both apples and pearls
But we have been told that 3.5 of these 9.3 kg are pearls.
This means that for you to get the kg of apples, you have to subtract 3.5kg from 9.3kg
this implies (9.3-3.5)kg
= 5.8kg of apples
Hi Eli K.
3.72 kilograms of apples
If you were trying to enter 3/5 as in three fifths in your question above then please see below:
3/5 + 2/5 = 5/5 =1 or the whole entire amount
We were told 3/5 of the sell was pears and according to the total weight that is
(3/5)(9.3 kilograms)
The rest would be
(2/5)(9.3 kilograms) would represent the apples
(2/5)(9.3)= 3.72 kilograms
You can check this by adding the fractional parts together
(3/5)(9.3) + (2/5)(9.3)
5.58 + 3.72 = 9.3
I hope this helps/
