Draw a picture of a rectangle, showing 2 short sides (widths) and 2 long sides (lengths). Each of the short sides is 90. How much do the two short sides add up to? Subtract that sum (180) from the total of all 4 sides (500). 500 - 180 = 320. The 2 equal lengths must add up to 320; therefore each of them is half of 320, or 160.
