How much do I need to practice every week?

While taking piano lessons, how much time do I need to spend practicing each week to improve my skills?

If you are preparing for Guild auditions, NFMC, ABRSM or the Royal Conservatory program, you should spend at the minimum 1.5 hours per day. If you are looking to have fun and are not serious about lessons, 15 minutes per day is acceptable. I f you are preparing for a competition, you should be practicing 3 to 6 hours per day. Serious pianists develop a practice regimen that includes scales, arpeggios, broken chords, etc., etudes and advanced classical repertoire. Pianists are also required to memorize pieces and this takes diligence.
