Hi Jimmy,
Thinking about this problem, we are trying to find how many 6ths are equal to 10 12ths, or 10/12=?/6. Looking at the denominators of 12 and 6 we can ask ourselves, what do we need to do to 12 to get 6. We need to divide by 2. So we need to divide both the numerator and denominator by 2, 10 divided by 2 is 5 and 12 divided by 2 is 6. Lane needs to eat 5/6 of the brownie to eat the same as Jon. Our answer is 5/6 brownie.
