150/b = 350/c = the same time traveled for bus and car, d=rt, t =d/r
b=c-40. b=bus speed, c = car speed
150/(c-40) = 350/c
cross multiply
150c = 350c - 14000
200c = 14000
c= 14000/200 = 70 mph = car speed
b = 30 mph = bus speed
the bus went 150 miles at 30 mph, taking 150/30 = 5 hours
the car went 350 miles at 70 mph, taking 350/70 = 5 hours
