"Difference" means subtraction. 4x/5 - 5 = 15
Add 5 to both sides: 4x/5 = 20
Can solve for x as a proportion: 4x/5 = 20/1 Cross-multiply: 4x = 100; x = 25
Or, mult both sides of the eqn by 5/4: Leaves x on the left (the 4's and 5's cancel out) and 20(5/4) on the right, so x = 25.
Check: 4(25)/5 - 5 = 20 - 5 = 15
