Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
x+y = 6
y = 6-x
3x +3y = 36
3x +3(6-x) = 36
3x +18-3x = 36
3x -3x = 36-18
0 = 18 is a contradiction.
there is no solution
but maybe the problem was really
3(x+3y) =36
3x +9y = 36, subtract 3 times x + y = 6
3x +3y =6(3)
6y = 18
y=18/6=3
x =6-3 =3
but 3 is not greater than 3. there is "larger" and "smaller" number
if x>y or y>x, then there is no solution
