$1.25/3 pencils x 12 pencils = 4 x $1.25 = $5.00 Note how the "pencils" cancel out on top and bottom, leaving $'s for the answer. Also, this avoids rounding errors (pencils are $0.41666... each!)

Notebook: $6.60
