almonds and jelly beans

A store is having a sale on almonds and jellybeans. for 8 pounds of almonds and 4 pounds of jelly beans the total cost is $37. for 3 pounds of almonds and 2 pounds of jelly beans, the total cost is $15. find the cost for each pound

3A + 2J =15

multiply 2nd equation by 2 to get:

6A + 4J = 30

subtract from 1st equation to get

2A = 7

divide by 2 to get:

A =7/2 = 3.5 = $3.50 per pound of almonds

2J = 15-3A

J= 15-10.5)/2

J = 4.5/2 = $2.25 per pound of jelly beans
