Sara has soccer practice at 4:15p.m.  It takes her 35!minutes to get to soccer practice from her house.  At what time does Sara leave for soccer practice?

 

a.  3:40pm

b.  4:30pm

c.  3:45pm

d.  4:00pm

We know she will have to leave before 4 since she must be there 15 minutes after 4 and she needs 35 minutes to get there. Subtract 15 from 35 to see how many minute before 4 she has to leave

 

35 min- 15 min = 20 min

 

She needs to leave 20 minutes before 4. You can look at a clock or subtract 20 from 60

 

60 - 20 =40

 

20 minutes before 4 is the same as 40 minutes after 3

 

correct answer is 3:40
