20x + 32y = 1024

20x + 20y = 20(38) = 760

subtract to get

12y = 1024 - 760 = 264

y = 264/12 = 22 32 cent stamps

x= 38-22 = 16 20 cent stamps

22(32) + 16(20) = 704 + 320 = 1024
