Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
2/(x+1) - 1/(x+6)
put them over a common denominator, the sum the new numerators
common denominator = (x+1)(x+6)
2/(x+1) - 1/(x+6)
= 2(x+6)/(x+1)(x+6) - (x+1)/(x+1)(x+6)
= (2x+12 -x-1)/(x+1)(x+6)
=(x+11)/(x^2+7x +6)
UNLESS, by chance you meant the problem to read
2/x + 1 - 1/x + 6, then
it equals
2/x - 1/x + 1+6
= 1/x + 7
= (1+7x)/x
Guess is you meant the 1st, but technically what you wrote is the 2nd.
