The pattern for any major scale is wwhwwwh where w is a whole step and h is a half step.
For C-major, you would put your thumb on middle c and then, with your right hand play C-D-E-F-G-A-B
For the left hand, you would put your thumb on middle c and play C-B-A-G-F-E-D
Good luck in your piano playing! I took lessons for years and really enjoyed it :)

Hi! So with any scale you are going to start at the root, therefore a C scale will start on the C. The C scale has the following notes: C, D, E, F, G, A, B. For your right hand, you start with your thumb on C. Once you get to E, you want to tuck your thumb under your middle finger to play the F, and then finish the scale with your hand in that position. Your pinky should end on C. For your left hand, you start on C with your pinky and cross your middle finger over your thumb so it lands on A and finish the scale with your thumb on C. When you go back down, it's the same. Essentially, your thumb always tucks under your middle finger and your middle finger always crosses over the thumb. Shift your wrist in the direction you are moving when crossing under/over to allow for easier movement.
Also, the proper "formula" for any major scale is going to be to start at the root (C) and follow with the following sequence: (2nd) whole step, (3rd) whole step, (4th) half step, (5th) whole step, (6th) whole step, (7th) whole step, then the 8th will be the root again, which is a half step up from 7th.
