Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
f(x) = 8x + 6 = y
switch x and y to get
x = 8y + 6, solve for the new y
8y = x-6
y = (x-6)/8 = f^-1(x), the inverse of f(x)
where f(x) added 6, the inverse subtracts 6, where f(x) multiplies by 8, the inverse divides by 8
