Peter saves $167 a month. Peter saves $37 less each month than Bill. How much will Bill save in 2 years?

Another way to solve this problem is to create a proportion. I know that because my question asks for a balance and uses a RATE(per month). I still will need to know steps 1-3 above in order to set up my Proportion. My proportion can be set up this way (hint:looks like fractions!) 1month/$204 = 24 months/x In Elementary school, we learn that whatever happens to the numerator, happens to the denominator. So, If 1 month becomes 24 months by multiplying 1 and 24, Then, $204 must also be multipled by 24. Which makes my final Proportion look like this: 1/204 = 24/$4896. My "x" (or missing value) was $4896 in 24 months saved by Bill. Hope this helps. Awaiting some other strategies from other awesome Tutors!
