I need help with this question. ( this is the Question) Mai and her family reach the amusement park at 8:15. They wait in line for 55 minutes. What time did they go in?

total wait time:55 minutes later

End time:?

How I would solve this problem is to work backwards. So what I would do is add an hour to the start time, then subtract 5 minutes from that since the end time is only 55 minutes later.

start: 8:15 ----(45mins)---> 9:00 -----(10mins)---> 9:10 end

45mins + 10 mins = 55 mins

Start Time: 8:15

Duration: 55 minutes

To know when they entered(end time), we can add the numbers.

8:15 + 0:55 = 8:70

Now, notice we have 70 minutes. Every 60 minutes, we have a new hour.

Thus, 8:70 = 9:10
