y-1 = 3(x+2)
y = 3x +6 +1
y = 3x +7 is the equation of a line parallel to y=3x-4 and through the point (-2,1)
check the answer, plug in the point
1 = 3(-2)+ 7 =-6+7 = 1
to be parallel the lines must have the same slope. They have the same slope if the coefficient of the x terms are the same, when the equations are solved for y. In this problem both have 3x, with 3 = slope
