20 feet, 18 feet are the 2 pieces of a 38 foot board cut in 2 pieces, with one piece 2 feet longer than the other
38 = S + L = S+2+S = 2S +2
19 = S+1
S = 19-1 = 18 feet for the shorter piece
L = S+2 = 18+2 = 20 feet for the longer piece
