Calculus Question. Please anwser!

Many people argue that there should be four types of conics instead of three. How many types of conics do you think there should be? Support your claim. Refer to the diagram below to help you.

I agree with Mark. You just need to state your opinion. I'll be a "pot-stirrer" and say there should be 5: hyperbola, parabola, ellipse, circle, and point. A point is achieved by moving the "circle cutting-plane" up to the middle exactly between the lower and upper cones. You could probably come up with another.
