Communication is both verbal and nonverbal; ironically, nonverbal is, indeed, the speaker's most honest perspective because a person's true feelings pervade and undercut what is spoken. Truth lies in what is hidden and taboo; therefore, we have Freudian slips. Here, the tone of language, vocalics, rate of speech, eye contact, side gestures, nervous ticks, utterances like "uh's" and "ums," and hands, feet, and facial gestures do not lie!
More wars, duels, and family feuds are the result of "noise" or cultural mistaken cues of meaning or misunderstanding or faux pas: ln simple terms---it is putting one's foot in one's mouth. The encoder sends a message, but the decoder hears a completely different message. The sender of a message is not static, and the receiver is also not static. Both are interacting and simply interchangeable.
