When measuring the volume of a cube in centimeters, and the same cube in meters, the volume doesn't seem to align. What is going on?

If I have a cube that measures 10 cm on each side, I can deduce that the cube is 1000cm3 This means that I can build my cube with 1000 cubes that measure a cm on each side

If I find that same volume, but using meters (0.1) I find that the volume is 0.0001m3

I don't know how to visualize this. Nor can I understand how these quantities could possibly be equivalent.
