x/5 = 7-3 = 4
x =20
Unless you possibly meant
3 +5/x = 7
then
5/x = 4
x = 5/4
but the standard terminology of "quotient of a number and 5" would mean the number is the dividend and 5 is the divisor, so the quotient is x/5
dividend divided by the divisor = the quotient
