Printing large and small type for 24 pages equation

Printing an article of 48,000 words, a printer uses two type. Using larger type, printed page has 1800 words. Using smaller type, page has 2400 words. Article is allotted 24 full pages. How many pages are in smaller type?

1800L + 2400S = 48000

or 18L + 24S = 480 in units of 100

9L + 12S = 240

L+S = 24 multiply by 9

9L + 9S = 216 subtract from 9L+12S =240 to get

3S = 240-216 = 24 divide by 3

S = 24/3 = 8 small pages

L = 24-8 = 16 large pages
