It appears to be partly a geometric sequence, combined with a Fibanocci sequence, f1, f2, f3, ....
A1 = t^1(f1) where f1 = 3
A2 =r^2(f2) where f2 =9
A3 =r^2(f3) where f3 = 12 = f2+f1
AN =r^N(fN) where fN = f(N-2) + f(N-1)
the 3,9, 12 could be viewed as 3 points (1,3), (2,9), and (3,12)
there could be quadratic or logarithmic function through those points
Had the sequence been 3r, 9r^2, 27r^3 it would have been a geometric sequence with common ratio = 3r
AN = (3r)^N
