Domain is the set of all x values for which the function exists.
To find the domain, you can set the denominator to be equal to zero and solve for x.
Then, write the domain ,using the set notation.
To graph the function using transformations:
First, graph g(x) = -2
x2
Next, identify 2 points on your graph and the Vertical Asymptote.
To graph f(x) = -2 you must 3 units to the left -same as subtracting 3 from each x co-ordinate. in the
(x+3)2
graph of g(x).
To graph y = -2 + 5 , you must shift g(x) 5 units up- same as adding 5 to each y co-ordinate.
(x+3)2
good practice to label 2 points and the asymptotes in the final graph!
