Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
y=5, x=0
x+y = 5
x-y = -5
x^2-y^2 = -25
(x-y)(x+y) = -25
(y-x)(x+y) = 25
all have x=0, y=5 as a solution
but if you have one equation 2 unknowns, there are endless other solutions
(y-5)x = 0 has solutions x=0 and y=5, but also other solutions (0,y) and (x,5) where x and y can be any real number or complex number
xy= 5x
